New Energy Vehicle Exports from GBA Gain Additional Transport Channel

On January 12, with the sound of a train whistle, a freight train carrying 50 Dongfeng Voyah new energy vehicles (NEVs) departed from Guangzhou International Port Station under the supervision of Guangzhou Station Customs (affiliated with Guangzhou Customs). The train will travel through Khorgos Port to its overseas destination, marking the first China-Europe Railway Express dedicated to domestic NEV exports from Guangdong Province and adding a new logistics channel for NEV exports from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

Since the launch of the China-Europe Railway Express service at Guangzhou International Port in August 2022, the station has operated a total of 167 inbound and outbound freight trains. Guangzhou Customs has provided secure and efficient supervision services to facilitate the transportation of “Made in China” products—including electronics, apparel, footwear, home appliances, and machinery—to markets in Europe, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia via these rail routes.

To ensure smooth operations of NEV-dedicated China-Europe freight trains, Guangzhou Customs has implemented the General Administration of Customs’ ten measures to support the development of China-Europe Railway Express services. The customs authority has proactively addressed the needs of foreign trade enterprises by establishing a “green channel” for NEV export clearance, further reducing customs clearance times and optimizing international logistics and supply chains.

Since 2023, Guangzhou’s China-Europe Railway Express services have continued to accelerate. As of January 10, Guangzhou Customs has supervised the departure of 12 import and export freight trains, carrying a total of 1,096 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) with a cargo value of RMB 328 million.
